MySchool Jamaica congratules Jasford Gabriel with his new title: President Elect Designate

Jasford Gabriel Manchester HighOn June 25th the Jamaica Teachers Association sent out a media release announcing a change in leadership. Three candidates contested the 2019 JTA President Elect Elections held on June 17-21, 2019. They were:

  • Jasford Gabriel, Principal, Manchester High, Mandeville, Manchester.
  • Lasonja Harrison, Interim Principal, St Faiths’ Primary, St. Catherine
  • Winston Smith, Principal, Golden Spring Primary, St. Andrew

A total of 12044 votes were cast in the elections, with candidates receiving votes as follows:

Jasford Gabriel: 6500 votes
Lasonja Harrison 1582 votes
Winston Smith 3209 votes

Jasford Gabriel, having secured the highest number of votes in the preliminary count is hereby declared President Elect Designate.

The winner will be officially proclaimed at the official opening of the JTA’s Annual Conference scheduled for the Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa, Montego Bay, Monday, August 19, 2019.
